Introducing the Joomla Smart Installer
The Smart Installer is an addition to the standard Joomla Installer. We hope most joomla administrators will find it a significant improvement to replace the standard Installer for most Joomla extensions. JSI is a administrative extension that includes:
- Expanded Joomla Extensions Directory with full text search
- JoomlaCode search
- Private extensions repository
- Installer component with access to Expanded JED and JoomlaCode Search
- Version updating abilty
Most significantly is the Advanced installer that provides one-click installation of any extension with a directly accessable installation file. We have (and continue to) scanned the Joomla extensions Directory, as well as process Joomacode and other online sites, for direct links to extension installers.
For Extension Publishers
We are working on adding provisions for extension publishers to make sure the JSI database is current, to improve ease of extension installation and updating of installed extensions. Initial versions are being created for Joomlacode projects and doc_man sites. For those publishers, who require login to download and or even those selling extensions, the JSI system provides a unique site identifier. This allows publishers to give site owners instant install of extensions.

As well as the search built into the JSI, We have made the extensions search available as both a standalone search site at http://search.joomlasmarts.com
